reThink Green’s annual Sustainability Awards highlights achievements in community carbon reduction, sustainability, and leadership in the area of environmentalism. Nominations for this year are now open with will close on Friday, March 8th at 11:59 pm.

Take a look at our categories below to see if you know a dedicated, talented, and exceptional person whose environmental efforts in Northeastern Ontario deserve to be celebrated.

This year’s awards will be given out at a hybrid in person / online ceremony taking place on Tuesday, March 26th, between 1 pm to 3 pm at Dynamic Earth’s Epiroc Theatre.  For tickets RSVP through reThink Green’s Eventbrite page here.

A person that has gone above and beyond professionally what is expected of them in sustainability. This person has made a positive impact in Northern Ontario abroad or in their community with the resources they have at their disposal to benefit the community through sustainable practices. 

This award is given to a business, not for profit, or organization that has made a tremendous impact in the areas of food security, capacity, or availability where local agriculture is concerned. This can range from reducing the steps it takes for food to reach from farm to table, or by creating new systems for food to be distributed to members of the community who otherwise would not have access to local, fresh food stuffs.

The Environmental Educator Award is given to an educator who shows initiative in creating opportunities for environmental education and who centers the concept of sustainability in their teaching and in their actions. They are a champion for environmentalism and sustainability and have made a lasting impact on their students and community.

A person under 25 who has shown leadership with environmental sustainability. They are committed to their cause by putting their time and energy into achieving this goal through projects, community engagement, and innovation. Their success has benefitted their community and inspires others to up the cause.

Green Economy North celebrates a member who showed exceptional effort, advocacy, and dedication in reducing their carbon emissions through scope 1 or scope 2 emissions.

This is an internally selected award from the Green Economy North membership program.

GEN member who has introduced a new product, method, or change that has led to a significant reduction in carbon emissions. This innovative solution not only demonstrates the member’s commitment to sustainability but also serves as a commendable example for others in the industry, inspiring further advancements in environmental stewardship.
