History

reThink Green is a solution based network focused on enhancing and protecting the environment and culture of sustainability in the City of Greater Sudbury.

reThink Green promotes creative collaboration and dialogue about local and global environmental issues. We bring together the grass-roots community, non-profits, businesses, and government to build a sustainable community. Some of our service offerings include capacity building workshops, engagement organizing, member-focused networking, a shared office space, Green Economy North, and Greater Sudbury’s annual Earth Festival.

reThink Green is based on the success of the Sudbury Basin Environmental Networking Initiative (2004-2006) and the Greater Sudbury Environmental Network (2006-2009). reThink Green carries on the mandate of those successful organizations by continuing to promote environmental action, policy, and networking in the Greater Sudbury area. reThink Green is a not-for-profit organization that is run by a full time Executive Director, a small staff, and a volunteer board of directors.

What does reThink Green mean?

We want to encourage the community to re-think their commitment to being environmentally conscious. We want to maintain a positive association with the word green, and break the belief that sustainability costs more. In most cases, sustainability and savings go hand-in-hand.
