EVOGS objective is to promote the use of green vehicles: hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles. We would love to see Sudbury include "green" parking spots, expand on its growing electric charging station network. It is also important for us to promote those that share these values. To name several off-hand: Quality Inn, Nickel City International, and Science North who have installed charging stations at their places of business. We hope that more will follow in their footsteps. Climate change is real. If you review the Greenhouse Gas Inventory reports published by Environment Canada, and the Climate Change reports published by Provincial Ministries of Environment you will see how much the passenger vehicle (internal combustion engine, ICE) plays a role in those emissions. Not only do ICE's produce GHG's emissions, they also promote the development of more GHG's via oil exploration and development. For these reasons, green cars can make a significant positive impact on the environment. Technology keeps getting better and better, more and more auto manufacturers are researching and developing electric vehicles. The Province of Ontario offers great incentives for consumers to purchase electric vehicles as well. There are so many attributes to taking the plunge and making your next passenger vehicle a green vehicle. We want to help you make that choice for a better environment.
